Abstract

Pediatric abdominopelvic trauma presents a multifaceted challenge characterized by unique anatomical, physiological, and biomechanical aspects that differentiate it from trauma in adults. This comprehensive exploration delves into the mechanisms of pediatric abdominal injuries, specifically focusing on blunt force trauma, penetrating injuries, and deceleration trauma. Blunt force injuries, often resulting from motor vehicle accidents, falls, and sports incidents, reveal distinct patterns in the pediatric population due to their developing bones, flexible ribs, and relatively larger solid organs. Penetrating injuries, including high and low-velocity traumas, introduce a spectrum of challenges, emphasizing the critical role of factors such as the size and nature of the penetrating object in determining outcomes.
